Most Teens in Windsor Locks Do Not Use Alcohol

A 2010 student survey shows that 67% of our high school teens and 94% of our middle school youth do not drink alcohol.

On any given day in Windsor Locks, we have students participating in many positive activities provided to them such as school sports, chorus, band, youth groups, youth service bureau activities, scouting, and LITTLE LEAGUE!

But many teens feel alcohol is easy to obtain.

In the 2010 student survey, 38% of our middle school students and 71% of high school students reported that they think alcohol is easy to obtain.

As parents/adults, what can we do?

Parents are encouraged to monitor their teen's behavior

Parents who know their children's friends reduce the likelihood of underage drinking.

We encourage our teens and adults to report parties where teens may be using alcohol

We encourage adults to praise teens for making good choices

We can monitor our alcohol at home and lock it up.

Be clear, be firm, and be
consistent when it comes to teens
and alcohol because
YOU ARE THE KEY
to keeping them alcohol free!
